Radiator Case Study

When Becky and Andy set out to retrofit their charming historic home and new timber-frame extension, they were determined to find a heating solution that was as beautiful as it was sustainable. The Poured Project’s concrete radiators delivered on every level — stunning design, silent warmth, and seamless control via smart tech.

How satisfied are you with the radiators you purchased?

Very, they are really beautiful in both the old and modern parts of our home. They heat up quickly and radiate a lovely warmth after clicking off.

How well do they meet your heating needs?

We believe they will meet our heating needs from the short amount of use we had before the warmer weather. When we used them they provided a lovely, ambient warmth. We love the fact that they don’t have any moving parts so, apart from the gentle click of the thermostatic controls, they are silent to run!

How important was sustainability in your decision to choose our radiators?

Really important. We wanted a heating solution that was eco friendly, not just for running costs but also carbon footprint.

Have you noticed any energy saving or efficiency improvements?

We were using fan heaters before this so definitely more energy saving and our teenagers can’t just leave them on full blast as they are thermostatically controlled. We feel they will perform well in terms of energy efficiency, especially in combination with our solar panels.

How do guests react to your radiators?

They always mention how beautiful and different they are. I believe they’ve even won my mum over once seeing them in person as she doesn’t like concrete objects.

How was your experience installing them?

Mostly good. It was tricky in the older part of the house where nothing is straight or flat. A little more wiggle room on the feet would have helped make getting the radiators in the supports easier. Installing the brackets onto the carpet was fiddly - we had some of the threads pull out so learnt to cut where the screws were going. Sometimes the screws that held the brackets to the fixing plate were really hard to put in due to the depth of the carpet but we managed. It was super easy to install them on the walls (we used painted plywood fixed to the studs of our timber frame extension). The electronics took a bit of trial and error - a few cover plates aren’t tight to the wall due to the amount of wires and small Shelly box inside preventing that. Advising bigger back boxes would be a good idea, although practically I don’t know how hard that would be.

Would you purchase from us again/ refer our products to others?

Yes, definitely! We love your products, your ethos and getting to know you guys really make it a good experience. We tell all of our friends and family about the radiators, basically, if you come into our house and mention the radiators you get told about Poured Project.

If you could change one thing, what would it be?

The wiggle room on the feet to make it a little easier to get the radiator in the supports.

In relation to the feet, Andy has designed a more user friendly style of feet.

How easy are they to control in your home?

Very. We’re using the Shelly app and mini control boxes with thermostats. You can easily turn them on and off from the app and have it all under thermostatic control. We had a couple of blips when first using the app where one of the teens rooms got really warm as the thermostat didn’t click the heating off - I think we’ve resolved it!

Do they complement your interior space?

Yes! They work really well for the old historical part of our home as well as the new timber frame extension. They just fit nicely in the rooms, working with the different colours and decor.

Do you have any more feedback?

No, really pleased with how they look and perform.
