As a company we already have a working relationship providing work experience to a local college, Camphill Wakefield, for disabled adults and young people. Some of these disabilities are physical as well as developmental. Our manufacturing process includes a lot of manual labour and heavy lifting, due to the nature of the material. To promote inclusivity and support the young people, we are able to adjust our processes to accommodate their needs to ensure they are able to work comfortably and safely. We are always receptive to feedback from our employees and quick to implement any changes to support them. We have plans in place to provide more work experience on a long-term basis along with trialing the students in different stages of the manufacturing process with the intent to employ at the end of their education.
Not only do we have a recruitment policy, but part of our ethos is also to have a diverse workforce with a welcoming atmosphere which allows everyone to feel comfortable and supported. We believe this allows for more innovative and creative thinking throughout all areas of The Poured Project Ltd.
We are atypical to most manufacturing companies as 80% of our team are women. Engaging with our local community and supporting people who want to develop their skills is something we are passionate about in our recruitment process. The majority of our employees live locally and either walk or cycle to work.
We allow flexible working hours to help accommodate commitments outside of work and support our employees. For example, we are understanding of the responsibilities of single parents and ensure we provide a supportive environment and flexible schedule to support them.
Graduate Placements
We also work closely with York St Johns University, working with their Summer Intern Programme & graduate placement scheme.
Camphill
We were fortunate to meet Raph Taylor from Camphill via We Are Wakefield, after discussions and site visits we now provide their students with work experience.
